Welcome to K.P. Monaco CPA, PC!

My professional journey began with my graduation from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1991 with a degree in Accounting.  Soon after graduation, I landed a paid internship at Terry Hansen & Associates, a small accounting firm in Arlington, Texas.

​

My boss and mentor, Terry Hansen had a degree in Economics and previous experience in a wide variety of professions, including stock-broker and bank auditor as well as twenty years as a CPA.  He had bragging rights (and was sure to let me know) that he had passed all four parts of the CPA exam on the first try, a feat that was only accomplished (at the time) by approximately 2% of CPA candidates.  After I had finished my required internship, I was also able to pass all four sections of the CPA exam on the first try and I was licensed as a CPA by the State of Texas in 1995.

I was fortunate to have a mentor with so much experience and I was able to absorb a tremendous amount of knowledge from Terry in the 11 years I worked with him.  Our firm was small, with just a few employees, so I often wore many hats; everything from office manager, accounts payable and accounts receivable clerk, payroll processor, bookkeeper, tax preparer, and even computer technician!

I stayed at Terry Hansen & Associates until 2006 when Terry decided to retire and turn his clients over to me.  I formed K.P. Monaco & Associates, that same year and focused on marketing our practice and building a strong staff of 15 clerical and professional individuals.  We provided accounting services to Terry’s former clients as well as 250+ new clients.  Our individual and business clients were in various jobs and industries, including restaurants, manufacturing, real estate, retail, and service businesses.  We offered bookkeeping, taxes and tax planning, financial statement audits and consulting services.

K.P. Monaco & Associates continued until 2017 when I made the decision to pursue my dream of country living.   I moved to a small farm about an hour’s drive northwest of Fort Worth.  Because most of our clients were local to our Arlington, Texas firm, I determined that it was best for my clients to transition them to another accounting firm locally in Arlington.  I stayed involved with the transition until 2020, when I decided to form K.P. Monaco CPA PC and take on a few new clients.

​

K.P. Monaco CPA PC is open for business now and accepts both bookkeeping and tax clients!  We have extensive experience with Quickbooks desktop and online versions as well as several other software programs.

​

The total number of clients accepted will be limited to those that can be serviced personally by Karen, or by just one or two trusted staff members.  Our services will be personalized to the needs of our clients and we are focused on being available when our clients need us as well as returning client’s telephone calls and/or emails within one business day!
